• You will be notified of your arrival time to the surgery center one day before your surgery. If your surgery is on Monday, you will be notified on the Friday before. The nurse from the center will usually gather information over the telephone unless a preoperative visit to the center has been scheduled by your surgeon. If you will not be at the number we have on file for you, please call us at (817) 548-4000 as soon as you know your surgery has been scheduled.
  • If you are experiencing any health changes such as a cold, fever, or persistent cough or any change related to the purpose of your surgery, please contact your surgeon's office.
  • Please have a list of your current medications and dosages (prescription and over the counter) available for the nurse. You will be instructed by her as to which of those medications to take or not take prior to your surgery.
  • If you have diabetes, DO NOT take your insulin or sugar pills, but please bring them with you to the surgery center the day of surgery.
  • Please notify the nurse at the center if you are taking any aspirin product, blood thinner, fluid pill, or potassium.
  • If you have allergies to medications, latex, tape, soap, or foods, please inform the nurse.
  • DO NOT eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery unless the nurse at the surgery center tells you otherwise. DO NOT chew gum, ice, or smoke. You may brush your teeth the morning of surgery but don't swallow any water.
  • You MUST make arrangements in advance for a friend or family member to drive you home following your surgery. You will not be allowed to drive if you receive sedation or general anesthesia. Failure to make these arrangements may result in the cancellation of your surgery.
  • You may shower and shampoo your hair prior to coming to the center.
  • DO NOT wear jewelry of any type (including body piercings).
  • You may be asked to remove nail polish.
  • You may NOT wear make-up if you are having Anesthesia.
  • Contact lenses need to be removed. Please bring a case and any supplies.
  • Dress comfortably - wear clothes that will fit easily and comfortably over your surgical area. Button-up shirts or blouses are preferred.
  • Leave all valuables at home.
  • Minors who are undergoing surgery must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can sign a consent. Please bring legal papers with you at the time of surgery to prove that you are the guardian.
  • Any individual who is unable to sign for him or herself must be accompanied by the individual who holds the power of attorney. Please bring proof of power of attorney with you.

Please also bring the following:

  • Insurance card and photo ID, such as a Driver's License; Advance Directive or Living Will, if applicable;
  • Proof of Guardianship or Power of Attorney, if applicable.
